Terms of use
The short version: Quill & Lantern is free to use. Your data stays yours and on your phone. It's a log and a game, not medical advice, and it comes as is.
Who we are
Quill & Lantern is made and published by Dylan Oxford, an independent developer in Washington State, USA (“we”). By using the app or this website, you agree to these terms.
Using the app
Quill & Lantern is free, with no account, ads, or subscription. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't copy, resell, or redistribute the app, or misuse its online lookups in ways that would burden the free services it relies on.
Not medical advice
Calories, nutrients, and workout estimates are good-faith estimates drawn from public databases (USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database, and the Compendium of Physical Activities). They can contain mistakes. Quill & Lantern is a log, not medical, nutritional, or fitness advice. Talk with your doctor or a registered dietitian before making changes to your diet, supplements, or exercise, especially if you have a health condition.
Your data
Everything you enter belongs to you and stays on your phone, as the privacy policy describes. You're responsible for keeping backups; because we never have a copy, we can't recover lost data.
Recipes you share
Recipes you send stay yours. Please only share recipes you have the right to share.
Other services
The app can connect to services we don't run: the food and supplement databases above, Google Drive for cloud backup if you turn it on, Health Connect, and app stores or Ko-fi for optional tips. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We work to keep it accurate and reliable but can't promise it will be error-free or always available.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from using the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.
Changes
If these terms change, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, USA.
